Heads and tails are not a safety myth
The heads fraction carries a real concentration of methanol and other low-boiling compounds, it's genuinely not something you want to drink, not just an inferior flavor. The tails carry heavier fusel oils that turn harsh and oily. Cutting them out is a safety and quality decision made at every single run, not an occasional judgment call.
